Acupuncture for Sports Injuries discussion in Portland Oregon
**Given that this is my first discussion blog, please let this and any future comments/postings be truthful and respectful regardless of who you are. I want to create an open environment that can be educational and pleasurable for all readers. Thanks!
Having been an athlete for most of my life, it should not be surprising to know that a large portion of my practice is devoted to healing sports related injuries and/or sports enhancement through the use of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (both externally and internally). From my experience thus far, I have seen quicker recovery times from sports injuries including those of the ankles, neck, shoulders, back, hamstrings, gluts, psoas muscle and groin when clients have stuck to a regular treatment regimen. I commonly incorporate both local and distal (Tan Method) acupuncture points during the acute stages of injury, as well as recommend patients internal and/or exteral herbal soaks for tissue/bone recovery and swelling. During the later stages I almost always use electro-acupuncture to keep increasing local cirulation which brings new blood and nutrients to the injured area.
I would like to open up this discussion group regarding Acupuncture/Chinese Medicine for Sports Injuries to anyone who may have had experience (positive or negative) recieving Acupuncture for specific injuries (ie patients), and also to practitioners of Oriental Medicine who may have some helpful advice or specific clinical experience and/or case studies.
